Steve Pearl

Steve Pearl is a nationally recognized mediator who specializes in resolving employment cases and consumer class actions. He draws upon over 30 years of experience in employment and class action law, having represented both employers and employees and having worked as a full-time mediator since 2011. Steve has resolved thousands of complex cases including employment, PAGA, wage and hour, and consumer class actions.

In 1992, Steve began his legal career practicing as an employment defense attorney before opening his own firm, where he tackled employment litigation from the plaintiffs’ side, including individual, class action, wage and hour, unfair competition, and consumer protection matters. This experience gave him invaluable insight into the perspectives and motivations on both sides before he transitioned to full-time mediation in 2011.

He quickly became one of the go-to mediators for employment law cases, receiving recognition not only from his peers, but also from the judiciary: a "nationally renowned wage and hour class/collective action mediator…" George v. Academy Mortgage Corp., 369 F. Supp. 3d 1356 (N.D. Ga. 2019). Since then, Steve has settled hundreds of six- seven- and eight-figure class actions, as well as individual employment cases alleging discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. As one client commented, “There is no need for you to educate him, and in fact, he’s often able to teach you something about the law.”

Steve is one of only a handful of Californians selected for both the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the International Academy of Mediators. When he’s not mediating, you will find him training for triathlons.
